For this design, artist Nick Lowry, aims to set the hoiho in a place where we usually see human heroes and characters of distinction placed – set in stone. The hoiho will be painted in fine detail in a faux marble effect using gold leaf to create vein to give a little opulence. The artist views this as a chance to take this shy, reserved and fragile being from its usual place of protection and throw it in a light it may feel uncomfortable – in a much more theatrical one. Creating a somewhat monolithic structure, falsifying its true nature but glorifying this bird in a way humans do best.
