How often do we just see the fluorescent orange vest of a worker in Christchurch and not the person wearing it? The vests are meant to keep us safe by making us seen. So often they just become a vest and not the father, mother, daughter, son, brother, sister or grandparent wearing it. Like our incredibly unique and special wildlife in NZ which is easily looked past and taken for granted. The yellow-eyed penguin is the rarest penguin in the world and on our back doorstep something to be noticed and cherished like the people trying to make our city a better place.
