The Publica penguin remembers the great marine conservationist, explorer, scientist, filmmaker and innovator – Jacques Cousteau. His unique uncovering of The Silent World, beneath the deep, opened the world’s eyes to the delicate beauty that is unseen in our day to day. The design gives the illusion of a marine aquarium – a bubble that protects the life inside. By bringing this bubble into the city centre, we’re encouraging Christchurch to collectively admire the ocean and yet remember that our priority is to protect it.
