Jayson McRoberts is a local legend. Heavily involved in his community, he coaches local rugby teams, and is a big supporter of the area.
He was nominated to complete the artwork by the Hoon Hay community because of his hidden artistic skill and historical support for events like this.
For the design he wanted to capture the importance of sport participation in the Hoon Hay community through the use of the local Suburbs Rugby Club’s jersey and he has affectionately nicknamed the penguin “Snow” after the Club’s most senior life member, Snow (Ian) Richards.
Jayson created the Kotahi Tātou (We are one) penguin, on behalf of the Hoon Hay community.
