Why not download the free Pop Up Penguins app to help you explore the city. The app will help you find all the penguins located from Akaroa to New Brighton and Kaiapoi to Lyttelton, and everywhere in between!

When you find a penguin, you can enter the 4-digit code into the app and you might unlock a reward from one of our sponsors. There are lots of rewards to collect and competitions to enter. You can enjoy free coffees and ice cream, and enter in to win shopping vouchers, free nights in hotels and discounts on activities in and around the city.

Plus, you can create a gallery of all the penguins you see, tell us which penguins you like and track how far you have walked whilst doing the trail.

Collect Sculptures

Using the COLLECT + enter the 4 digit code found on the plaque to collect the sculpture.

Find Sculptures

Pinch and swipe the map to zoom in and out. Location settings need to be turned ON to see your location on the map. Or visit the sculptures tab and search for the display name or artist.

Collect Rewards

When you find and collect sculptures you’ll collect lots of exciting rewards along the way! There are also stars available when you complete certain milestones.

Stats

Track your progress around the trail. See how many sculptures, rewards and milestones you’ve collected. Plus you can see the most voted and most collected sculptures across the entire trail.

Gallery

Upload your photos to the public photo gallery. Images uploaded will be vetted by the team prior to being published. Your photo will be seen by other app players and can be shared on social media. So get creative!

Pedometer

Stay fit and healthy, count your steps on the trail using our handy pedometer.

Events

Trail related events will be published in the app. Visit the Events section to stay in the know.

Problems signing in

Check you’re connected to the internet, either WiFi or a mobile network. Make sure you have the latest update installed on your device. Close the app completely and re-open it (or restart your device).

Lost progress stats

Make sure you have the latest update installed on your device, then log out and back in again this usually resolves the issue. If not, close the app completely and re-open it (or restart your device).

Finding Sculptures

Use the map; pinch and swipe the map to zoom in and out. Location settings on your phone need to be turned ON to see your location on the map. Or go to the sculptures tab to access the sculpture listings and search for the sculpture name, artist or location.

Collecting Sculptures

There is a 4 digit code found on the sculpture plaque. Click COLLECT + and enter the number. You have now collected that sculpture and if you’re lucky, you may have collected a reward at the same time.

Uploading to the Gallery

You can upload a photo to the app Gallery by clicking Upload on the sculpture page. You’ll be asked to either Take a photo or Choose from library. Images uploaded will be vetted by the team prior to being published on the app. Your photo will be seen by other app players and can be shared on social media. So get creative!

Incorrect codes

If you’ve already collected a sculpture the app will display an incorrect code message. Check your sculpture listing pages to see if you have already collected it.

Do I need to fill in all the sign up fields?

No. You only need to fill in the fields marked with an asterisk (*).

Name – We use this to identify you.
Email – Your email address allows you to login to your app account on different devices. It also enables us identify your account and communicate with you if you require support.
Postcode – We’ll use this for our event evaluation. (Don’t worry we’ll never sell your info to third parties).
Age – We’ll use this for event evaluation and to determine if we can stay in touch. If you’re under 16, we’re sorry but you’ll need to wait another year before you can join the mailing list.
Group Size – We’ll use this for our event evaluation. (Don’t worry we’ll never sell your info to third parties).

At the end of the trail your sculpture, rewards and voting stats will be anonymised and used for event evaluation purposes only. If you do not wish your anonymised stats to be used in event evaluation you can opt-out in writing to marketing@wildinart.co.uk.

How long do you keep my data?

App Players – We keep your personal information for 6 months following the end of the art trail/event auction. After which Wild in Art will promptly and securely anonymise the app data.

Mailing List – Consenting app players will be added to Wild in Art’s mailing list. You may unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time, just follow the instructions in those messages. If you unsubscribe from the mailing list, we may still send you other messages, like those about your account and legal notices.
