Wild in Art is putting a call out to artists to submit designs for decorating the Pop Up Penguins sculptures.
The Pop Up Penguins trail will have 50 large penguin sculptures installed on streets, parks and open spaces across the city for 10 weeks at the end of 2020.
Each penguin will be sponsored by companies and organisations wanting to make their mark on the city and help raise money for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre. Artists’ designs will be submitted into a design portfolio, from which sculpture sponsors will commission artists to bring life to their blank penguin.
This is a great opportunity for local artists to profile their skills and talents to an audience of thousands of residents and visitors to Christchurch. Each commissioned artist will be given an honorarium of $1,750 for decorating a sculpture, and their design will be featured across the Pop Up Penguins marketing, including the official trail map, app, website and souvenir guide.
Finally, each decorated sculpture will be sold at an auction to raise money for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre, which will give artists a valuable introduction to art buyers.

Submissions close on 14th April 2020.
